Washington, DC Events
Run or Dye Colorful 5K Run – May 24, 2014
The world’s most colorful 5K is back for another event in the DC area! This year, Run or Dye has partnered with Kid Power Inc. to host an unforgettable run along the Anacostia River. There will be several waypoints along the race route where runners will be pelted with tons of paint! The colorful concoctions are eco-friendly, plant-derived, and washable, so there are no worries when it come to getting nice and covered.
Washington, DC Memorial Day Parade – May 26, 2014
This summer, after visiting the monuments and memorials around DC, be sure to make time for the annual Memorial Day Parade on Constitution Avenue NW. The festivities begin at 2 p.m., and will include a marching band, and veterans from all 50 states. Visit here to see the parade route.
Auditions for The Voice – June 7-8, 2014
NBC’s Emmy Award-winning television series, The Voice, will be hosting auditions in Washington, DC this year. The judges encourage all types of musical performers, from solo artists, duos, to pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop, and more! Auditions are open call, so be sure to arrive early with your best piece prepared. Baltimore Pride 2014 – June 13 – 23, 2014
Mount Vernon and Druid Hill Park is expected to host over 30,000 supporters of the LGBTQ community over the course of these 10 days. Baltimore Pride dates back to 1975, and has been growing each year since its inception. Events range from a high heel race, a parade, a block party, and more! HONfest 2014 – June 14 & 15, 2014
Baltimore, otherwise known as “Charm City,” is known for many distinct offerings, though one of its quirkiest features is that it is home “Hons.” A “Hon” is short for “honey,” and perfectly embodies the friendliness of “Bawlmer’s” beloveds. Hon’s can be seen wearing beehive hairdos, spandex pants, bright eye shadow, and leopard print clothing/accessories. Visit 36th Street in Hampden during this weekend to find the streets filled with all sort of festive décor.
Artscape – July 18-20, 2014
The country’s largest FREE art festival is back for another year, and it is definitely an event you don’t want to miss. Over 170, 13 city blocks, 4 stages, and 350,000 guests will be present, and there is truly an exhibit for everyone. There will be celebrity guests and more, so make sure to plan your visit today.
