For over 30 years, gotügo has been committed to fostering the community at-large. Whether we’re supporting local events, or providing our products and services to those in need, its always our priority to be involved in our local community and economy. Another way that we’ve done this is by offering the gotügo Scholarship.
We believe that education drives success, and have chosen to offer our scholarship to help curb the ever-rising cost of college tuition. In partnership with Howard Community College, we have created a fund that will allow two students to attend HCC and ensure the tradition of excellence that the college has built. We specifically target deserving students who face difficult financial circumstances that would otherwise prevent them from attending college. The goal is to allow equal opportunity for these students to achieve their educational and career goals.
The gotügo Scholarship is awarded to students who have attained a grade-point average of at least 2.0, and demonstrate financial need according to the 2013-2014 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). To be considered, the students are required to submit a 500-word essay defining their career and educational goals, the benefits of having a college education, and how the student meets the specified criteria.
Samantha Steele-Hopkins is a full-time student in her first semester of the Nursing program at Howard Community College. She has maintained a 3.0 GPA since she began her education in January 2014. She is a wife, a mother of three beautiful children, and works as a Lab Aide for the Science, Engineering and Technology Department at the college. Her post-graduate plan is to seek employment at a local hospital, and continue to pursue higher education.
Prince Kwabena Gyamfi is in his second semester at Howard Community College, and is pursuing an Associate Degree in Pre-Medicine. The gotügo Scholarship has allowed Prince to participate as a member of the Student Support Service Program, as he is required to work less to cover the cost of his tuition.
Congratulations to both of these young scholars for their achievements, and for being awarded the gotügo Scholarship. We hope to continue to make college education available to hard working students and to help these students achieve their academic and professional goals.
